Loaves & Fishes has been helping feed the community since 1999. Our charity was created by the late Hank Gray and the late Bill Heasley, two Catholic Deacons who saw the need for a restaurant-style place to serve nutritious but affordable meals to those in need. They quickly gained the support of area churches after a town hall meeting.
The name Loaves & Fishes was chosen for the restaurant after the Biblical story where a multitude was fed in a miraculous way. Since its creation, we have been serving meals from food and financial donations provided by individuals, schools, businesses and corporations. We have also received the support of grants.
During the Pandemic, we changed our service model to a pick-up and delivery system to provide meals to more than 200 people each weekday. We have continued to address that need with incredible volunteers working with us to serve the community and ease food insecurity. Today, we serve between 50-90 people with our dine-in service and approximately 70 area residents via our delivery program.
