What We’re All About

Loaves & Fishes Brockville is a registered charity based in Brockville serving the Leeds Grenville region. We are dedicated to making a meaningful difference within our communities. We strive to alleviate hunger by providing nutritious meals served with dignity, inclusivity and respect.

Mona's Meals

Through a valued partnership between Loaves & Fishes and local schools, we currently provide approximately 150 meals monthly to families who register for the program. Mona’s Meals is dedicated to getting nutritious food into the homes of children and families in need, reinforcing our belief that no child should go hungry. We are proud to offer this much-needed service and are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in our community – one meal at a time.

Mona’s Meals was created as a heartfelt tribute to the beloved aunt of past Loaves & Fishes board member Elinor Utting and her husband Tim Utting. Aunt Mona had a deep love of children. She ensured that everyone in her extended family, including Elinor, was well taken care of and that no one went hungry. This program is a meaningful way to honour Aunt Mona’s memory.

Gleaning - Harvesting Surplus Food

Pick, prep and prepare! Many area farmers, including the Tincap Berry Farm, open their fields to us with surplus vegetables and fruits each year. With the help of many volunteers, we graciously accept and collect this surplus food and ensure it is processed and used to the maximum benefit so that nothing goes to waste.

Lunch Program & Meal Delivery

Monday to Friday, nutritious meals are created in the Loaves & Fishes kitchen and served in our dining room. Individuals from the community, including people from the Co-operative Care Centre, come into a warm, non-judgemental and welcoming environment to sit together to enjoy a tasty meal. Loaves & Fishes receives referrals from local health teams, families and community health workers. We also have incredible volunteers who deliver meals with a smile to individuals at home who are unable to visit our Front Street location.

The Weekender Program for Students (WP4S)

The WP4S is a Loaves and Fishes program that has been assisting local kids and teens (JK-G12), who live with food insecurity, since 2015.

We are a 100% volunteer run program.

Kids and teens who live with food insecurity often benefit from school breakfast, snack and/or lunch programs during the week, but struggle on the weekends when these programs are not available. That’s where we come in! We provide the students enrolled in the WP4S with a large baggie of food items for them to take home every Friday afternoon throughout the school year. These baggies help bridge the nutritional gap they experience on the weekends.
